Outdoor Games for Summer Fun
Embrace the heat here in Washington, D.C. by heading outdoors and playing a game with friends and loved ones at 2424 Penn. Today our blog post has a few ideas for games you can try for an exciting afternoon.
Ultimate frisbee is great for anyone looking to work off any extra calories they may have consumed at your picnic or barbecue. Find a frisbee and divide into two teams to play this twist on soccer. You can also play noncompetitively with the disc by tossing it around a group of friends or having your dog run after it.
This outdoor game is becoming more and more popular and it’s perfect for a summer afternoon in Charlotte, NC. You can purchase Giant Jenga online or make an even more giant version yourself. We like the idea of an extra giant set. To make this yourself, you’ll need 54 feet of 2x4, measuring tape, a pencil, a chop saw, a sanding block, 100 or 120 grit sandpaper, a damp cloth, and stain of your choice. This game will create a lot of fun for you and your friends.
Bocce ball is a great outdoor game that can create hours of fun for you, your family, and your friends. You can buy a bocce ball set online or at a local outdoor sports store. To play this game, you use a Pallino or Jack ball, and a set of bocce balls. Each player (or team) will get 4 bocce balls (depending on the set you purchase). The starting player will throw the Jack ball and the objective is to throw your set of bocce balls closest to the Jack.
If you don’t think you can take the midday or late-afternoon heat, try a game that works well in the evening when the sun has lowered and you feel a little less sluggish from the heat. Use large glow sticks in place of your flag for this easy twist on a classic game.
